It had been a crazy and stressful night. Inspiration-less assignments. A minor though frightening fender-bender. And then we came home to this. A much different and less stressful kind of crazy. This kind of crazy called for a celebration. I’m pretty sure I just stood there speechless for a couple of minutes. Not because it was unexpected, but because hearing those words and seeing that ring was the equivalent of finding out that my sister was getting married! EMILY IS ENGAGED!!
Emily has been one of my beloved roommates in the Nitch for the past year and a half, and can certainly be labelled as one of the biggest blessing of my time at college. She is maybe one of the wisest, most caring and encouraging women I’ve ever met. I can’t count the number of times she’s shown me and others around her the love of Christ through her words and actions. And Mark? He is DEFINITELY the funniest, weirdest, craziest person I’ve ever encountered. They make a pretty great pair and have been dating since Emily was a senior in high school. So, while the idea that their engagement was a surprise might be a stretch, the fact that it is one of the most exciting things to happen in our house since we all moved in a year and a half ago certainly is not.
Which is why I was so honored when Emily asked me to be their photographer. Not only do I get to witness my roommate and sister and friend marry the man of her dreams but I get to capture images that they could show their grandkids someday! Crazy. This past Saturday we ventured into the cold for Em and Mark’s engagement session and I had SO MUCH FUN. I love seeing you two together and the way you care about each other. I honestly started tearing up while editing your photos because of all the love!
So Mark and Emily, I hope you enjoy these. I had such a blast walking slightly aimlessly around in the cold with you, almost losing some toes to frost bite, and listening to Mark make up a love song about Raynaud’s Disease. I sincerely cannot wait for your wedding day! It is August yet? (But really. Go away winter.)
The follow pose is credited to Markle Sparkle! Love it. So while I was wandering around Bellefonte looking for locations, I came across this church and before I could see the front I hoped so hard for a colorful door. Turn the corner and BAM! A beautiful big red door. Fantastic!
Mark, you got that model face down!
Because of the cold we almost went the whole shoot without showing off Emily’s adorable outfit. But she’s a champion and so we snapped some quickly before the cold set in.
LOVE you two! If you liked this shoot, leave a comment and leave Em and Mark some love!
