She handed her application to the cute boy behind the counter, counting him as a perk of the job hunt and mentally listing him in the “pro’s” category of a potential job at Starbucks. Jocelyn didn’t know his name, so he became known as Cute Barista Boy (or QBB for short) around her house. But when she did finally start working at the mecca of caffeine addicts everywhere, Jocelyn discovered there was a lot more to admire about Justin than just his good looks and his skill at creating delicious caffeinated beverages. He loved the Lord, was considerate, kind, and intelligent, and to top it off, this kid could make her laugh. It became pretty clear to the two that they were meant for something more than friendship when they both arrived to the informal company Christmas party that year. Jocelyn planned to steal the night’s attentions with a full-sized Christmas-colored onesie, complete with footies. But when she walked out of the bathroom in her merry ensemble, she found Justin in the hall, looking at her in disbelief as he donned his very own holiday onesie pajamas. Clearly, these two were cut from the same clay.
I’ve know Jocelyn for a few years through friends at Penn State, but didn’t have the joy of really getting to know her until we began taking some of the same photography classes. Jocelyn is a talented photographer who is going to do amazing things with her art some day, driven and knows what she wants and will work hard to achieve it. I was so honored when she asked if I would photograph her July wedding this summer, and how could I respond with anything but a “YES!” for the chance to work with this hilarious, sweet, loving couple? Both Joc and Justin are from the State College area, but since they will be moving to Northern Virginia after they’re married, we decided to plan their shoot on their new stomping grounds!
So last week, Jocelyn, Justin and I spent some time wandering around the National Mall together, doing a touch of sight-seeing but mostly just capturing some photos in the gorgeous light that was soaking the Mall. Not only are these two hilarious to be around and constantly laughing with each other, but they are essentially professional models. Maybe it was the months of our amateur modeling for our photography lighting classes, but point a camera at Jocelyn and she will WORK!! It made my job incredibly fun and I’m pretty sure I squealed behind my camera in excitement more than anyone ever really wanted to hear. So Joc and Justin, thanks for an amazing session and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from the afternoon! Cannot wait for your wedding in just a few weeks!!
See what I mean? The one on the right belongs in at advertisement, you good-looking people.
Love love love how you two laugh together. Yes!!
These next few are from the WWII Memorial, where the light was just AMAZING. Could have shot here for hours on end if I had no one to stop me! Paying some respect to the home state! The one on the right… so patriotic! Favorite favorite favorite!!
We may or may not have dangerously J-walked a couple of lanes of traffic to get to this bridge, but the light was WORTH it!
And I’ll leave you with this sweet golden moment… Like em?! Share us on Facebook! Or leave Joc and Justin some love below!
