Erica & Derek | Valley Forge, PA Engagement Session

Some things are just worth waiting for.

We all knew it would happen, it was really only a matter of when. He found himself visiting her home often, and fitting in like a brother with her family. She found herself paying extra attention to this boy, and gladly used Facebook as a research tool to learn about his life. It might be creepy if this story had ended differently, but as it is, why wouldn’t you want to know as much as possible about the man who would become your future husband?

Erica and Derek (or as their friends have lovingly dubbed them, Dereka) first caught each other’s eye on a spring break mission trip our freshman year at Penn State, and it became evident to themselves and all of their friends around them that there was something that just clicked with these two. A passion for Jesus, a love of friends, a calling for teaching, and a small dose of sassiness on both sides of the equation laid the foundation that was built up every day. Over the next year we watched as they became close friends, as Derek began to show Erica just a little more attention than other girls, and as Erica held onto her heart to keep it from leaping too fast in Derek’s direction, because if it was going to be worth it, then it was going to be worth the wait.

Dereka, over the past four years that I’ve known you both, enjoyed your sassiness in my life, and been blessed  to serve alongside you, there has never been much question that these you were made for one another. Right from the start it was clear that you two fit together like two pieces of your own puzzle, and it was never a matter of if, but when. I am so, so honored to be documenting this chapter of your lives, and hope that these images will help you to remember what it feels like to be in the Right Now, knowing that everything that is ahead is worth the wait. Enjoy!

Oh, you guys…
We had planned to meet in October to capture the gorgeous colors of fall, but mother nature had other plans. Luckily, Valley Forge National Park had plenty of fallen leaves on the ground to give us the feel of fall! 60 degree weather didn’t hurt either :) Erica, you are just STUNNING. I don’t think I’ve ever loved trains more than in this photo.
And then we got classy.
Oh Lordy, you two… WORK IT. MANY thanks to Erica for scoping out this awesome location! Is there even any question? Favorite.
Then we got a little sweet and festive! How much to you LOVE this ring?
And I’ll leave you with these two. So sweet.
