Confession time: neither Jess nor Caleb went to school at Eastern University. In fact, 10 hours before their sunrise session this past weekend, none of us had ever set foot on the school’s campus. But when Jess contacted me about having her engagement photos done before Christmas, and let me know that she was willing to travel to the other side of the Pennsylvania to make it happen, I knew I needed to find a great setting for their session. Jess and Caleb are both from the western side of Pennsylvania, and though I’ve been in the Philadelphia area more times than I can count recently, I’m still a Virginia native, so I was glad to have my friend Erica guide me to Eastern’s gorgeous, tucked away campus in the heart of Philadelphia’s Main Line.
What we found couldn’t have been more perfect. Between glassy lakes, rustic stone mansions and quaint little cottages that look straight out of Snow White, Eastern is a bit of a real-life fairytale, and how fitting to showcase the beginning of a life together that has already been it’s own kind of fairytale? Jess and Caleb met in high school in a way that most teenaged girls dream of. She was the singer in her church’s worship band. He was the cute worship band guitar player from the next town over. And it just clicked. Even after high school, when Jess traveled east to Penn State and Caleb went west to Geneva College, the difficulties of long distance couldn’t phase them. And now they’re ready to make even bigger plans. Lifelong plans. The ones that promise not just four years of high school, or eight semesters of college, but forever.
Caleb and Jess, thank you for being so fun, flexible, and willing to try anything. It’s not everyday that I have clients who drive across entire states for their photos, or see the absolute best in a dreary morning at 7 AM. I’m so thankful for the chance to work with you both and to document the obvious love between you!
Really, could you two be more precious?
I’m thinking about specializing in lake-only photography. I just love it!
A little bit of boot envy. Also, you two are fierce!
These guys tried to tell me they were nervous about looking awkward. Too bad you’re both naturals!
See what I mean? Lake love!
A little bling.
Just go on, Jess.
And I leave you all with this adorable shot that sums up the whole morning. Love and nuzzling ;)
