Cindy | McLean Portrait Photography

One of my favorite parts about my job is all of the people that I get to meet through it. Amazing couples and their supportive parents and all-star friends, adorable families who love each other more than words, and other artists who are just as passionate about their medium as I am about mine. Usually I these other artists come in the form of other wedding vendors—florists, videographers, wedding planners, other photographer—it’s just par-for-the-course as a wedding vendor myself. But this past week I was SO lucky to get to meet another artist outside the world of weddings.

Cindy is a jewelry designer and founder of Sweet Bead Studio who lives in Northern Virginia. I knew just through her emails that she was a sweetheart and I was so excited when we finally got together. She is so welcoming, kind and easy to talk to and it made the entire session a blast. Some rainy weather caused us to shoot right around her home, but it also afforded us the opportunity to grab some shot right in her in-home studio! Cindy is a mom of four (four!!) boys, and it’s clear from the moment you step foot inside that her studio is her sanctuary. Gorgeous jewelry pieces, antique leather albums and boxes, wonderfully shabby-chic furniture and TO-DIE-FOR dress forms are perfectly displayed throughout the room. It’s essentially a vintage craft girl’s heaven—so you know I loved it! Cindy and I may have spent more time talking about antiquing and the adorable details that she’s collected than actually taking pictures… whoops! ;)

In just a few months, Cindy will be adding to her list of job descriptions: busy mom of four, jewelry designer, and published AUTHOR! She is in the final stages of publishing a book on her jewelry techniques that will be sold all across the country! It is ALWAYS so inspiring to me to see artists chasing after their dreams in big ways, and if this isn’t a big way, I don’t know what is! So with a new book and plenty of features on jewelry blogs all over the web, Cindy was due for some new bio portraits! Enjoy a few of my favorites from her session, and be sure to take a look at Cindy’s work on her blog!

Did I already mention that I love Cindy’s studio? Because I do!! P.S.- She also made that gorgeous necklace herself!

Cindy, you are beautiful!

Cindy - Stephanie – you are truly the dream photographer! I couldn’t have asked for a smoother photo shoot even though it was rainy – you sure put me to ease. I love how you captured me in my favorite place (so glad you liked my studio too!) as well as outdoors in natural light. You are amazing! Thank you so much for the great pictures, and for the incredibly sweet words you shared in this post. :-)ReplyCancel

Madeline Prokop - LOVE all of the pictures and really love the necklace. You could just make a bunch of those necklaces and sell them in no time! Especially like the pictures in blue! <3ReplyCancel

3 Reasons Why You May Need a Professional Headshot - […] I had a really great experience having my photos taken with an amazing photographer, Stephanie Dougher of Stephanie Dee Photography.  Take a peek at Stephanie’s work, and you’ll see why I contacted her as soon as I decided to have headshots taken.   As luck would have it, the day of my session turned out to be a bitter cold day (in between bouts of rain and snow!).  I soon forgot about the weather though, as Stephanie was so fun and engaging.  She put me at ease immediately; I didn’t feel incredibly self-conscious about having my picture taken.  Let me share a few of my favorites from our session (and you can see her sweet post with more photos here).
