Two of my favorite things about being a photographer revolve entirely around friendship. The first is getting to meet so many new friends: couples who find my information online and trust me to photograph a piece of their life and end up becoming friends; the bridesmaids at weddings who I get to hang out with on one of the most important days of their best friends’ lives; other photographers who I meet at workshops and conferences. Making new friends while doing what I love is pretty amazing. The second is getting to reconnect with old friends: high school teammates who now trust me to photograph a piece of their life; the bridesmaids at weddings who were my best friends in college; other photographers who I took PHOTO 405 with on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in spring of 2011. Getting to work with my friends while doing what I love is pretty amazing.
And once in a blue moon, these two fantastic pieces of my job collide and I get to make new friends AND photograph old ones!
Enter: Kyle and Becca. I met Kyle my freshman year of college and he quickly became a great guy friend. Kyle is fun, easy to talk to, and never judges the little quirks in others. He’s also incredibly smart, and after living in Pennsylvania for 22 years, recently moved down to Richmond to work in some kind of computer security or technology job that I could never understand in a million years. Kyle met Becca at Penn State when they both became involved in the Student Programming Association—a club that works to bring speakers, bands, and entertainment to the school for students. It’s a pretty sweet job! A mutual interest in SPA sparked a mutual interest in each other, and this past winter Kyle made it all pretty official when he asked Becca if she would be his wife!! Last week was my first time meeting Becca, but even just spending a few hours together in the early morning Richmond light, it became pretty clear how well these two fit together! We explored the property at Mill at Fine Creek—the same venue where Becca and Kyle will get married next year—and found some pretty amazing locations filled with huge rocks, creeks and shimmery moss. Definitely a location favorite!
Enjoy a few favorites from our sunrise session, and be sure to leave Becca and Kyle some love below!
Honestly, you two are adorable.
It was a little cold with some leftover snow on the ground, and these two STILL worked it out!
Magic, magic light.
Y’all are BEAUTIFUL!
And this ring…
Ooo this light!
I’ll leave you with this favorite… Becca, you’re stunner!
