It’s my birthday!!

This morning around 8 o’clock plus a few minutes marked the end of my twenty-third trip around the sun. I took today off from work, editing, email (sorry friends!) and other general day-to-day duties (except I did fold some laundry this morning. Oops.) to just enjoy life. Sometimes I feel like my “OFF” button is never pressed and there is always something to do or accomplish after the current task is done. That won’t go away, but every once in awhile we’ve got to take the time to slow down and just ENJOY the moment that we’re in, rather than looking ahead to the next thing looming over us.

So today, after a weekend of celebrating with my family, I’m enjoying the little nothings of my day: a long run, a hot cup of coffee on the back porch of my parent’s house, the sun soaking inside my car as I drive with the windows down… and maybe catching up on my favorite shows and watching last night’s episode of Mad Men!

Last week, in the spirit of living life right now and doing things that you love, I wrote down five things I wanted to do before I had to stop belting out T. Swift’s “22” like I meant it.

And I did them all! I ran HALF of a MARATHON, ate alligator (it really does taste like chicken!), had an amazing massage this morning, and was not thwarted by the ridiculously large number of candles on my cake: blowing them out still take just one breath!

But there is still one thing to check off…and that’s where YOU come in! Because it’s my birthday and I can do what I want, I’m giving away a $50 gift card to one of my very favorite stores… Anthropologie!! If you want to participate in the birthday fun, just leave a comment below with the age of your FAVORITE birthday sometime during Birthday Week. A randomly selected winner will be announced on Friday!

So get out. Make your own bucket list. Celebrate the little nothings. Eat something new. Go live your life right now because we only get one of these bad boys, and when it’s done it’s done. Happy April 8th, y’all!
