Summer Lovin’: Cruisin’ on the Chesapeake

There’s really no way around it: if you are a wedding photographer, June and July are essentially guaranteed to be your busiest time of the year. If it’s not a wedding every weekend, then you likely have a few double headers stuck in somewhere. And if you’re not working a fabulous 12-hour wedding day, then you are probably spending an evening getting to know an awesome couple during their engagement session. I love, love, love what I do, but sometimes—if I’m not careful—it can feel like I drowning in a pool of CF memory cards and emails and Lightroom and blog posts and Golden Hour sunlight!

So sometimes, a little mini break is the perfect solution to feeling overwhelmed in a sea of To Do’s, and I’d been looking forward to this little family reunion for months. An evening out on the Chesapeake Bay with family, picking crabs and enjoying some early July sun? Yes, please. Add in some Sam Adams Summer Ale and I think this is what Heaven might be light in the summer.

In the spirit summer sun and Maryland crabs, I thought I’d share my mini-vacation mentality with the blog today. A reminder that even in our busiest seasons, there is always time to enjoy life in the Right Now.

(But don’t worry! The blog will be back to regular programming tomorrow with Keri and Andrew’s wedding!)

One of my pretty sisters just cruisin’.

My Gram is the most AMAZING 92 year old woman you will ever meet. Kind, strong, and still so sassy.

Crabs for days!

Steph - Northern Virginia, but the Eastern Shore is just a short drive away which made it perfect for a little mini vacation! :)ReplyCancel

Larry - Totally jealous of your mini vacation and wish I could take one myself right about now, but the fact you take such amazing pictures I feel almost like I’m on a mini vacation. The pictures of the water and sunset are truly relaxing just to look at.ReplyCancel
