On this dreary Monday morning, I am so excited to have so many beautiful, sunny photos to share with you throughout the week! Including Ryan and Kim’s gorgeously sunny Penn State Arboretum engagement! I didn’t get to meet Kim and Ryan until just a few months ago when we met up at a Starbucks in Fairfax, Virginia, and, true to my obsessive Penn State alumna status, I was thrilled to learn that the adorable couple sitting across from me were Penn State grads, as well!
Kim and Ryan met during their time at Penn State as members of one of the coolest parts of football Saturdays—the Penn State Blue Band. If you still think that being a part of the marching band is dorky, you haven’t seen the Blue Band. Just short of actually playing in the game, the Blue Band members are some of the most celebrated parts of Penn State football tradition. Kim was a part of the Silks, the flag twirling team, and Ryan had worked his way up in the leadership ranks of the band. Though Ryan graduated and attended Michigan State for grad school, neither distance nor Big Ten rivalry could keep these two apart, and when Kim graduated this past December, Ryan doubled the cause for celebration with a surprise proposal at the Arboretum’s fountain.
So last weekend, while we were all in town for a football game, I was thrilled to spend Friday evening with this adorable couple, exploring campus as alumni and wandering the beautiful Arboretum, revisiting the place where Kim first said, “Yes!” I hope you’ll enjoy a few of my favorites and getting to know these two. You’ll see them again next June when they’re MARRIED! Woo!
Love love love this! The Alumni Center treated us well :) Oooo this one on the right! You guys are stunning! As we were walking to the next location, we spotted this glowy golden light and just had to stop! Kim’s gorgeous ring along with the first gift Ryan ever bought her—a heart-shaped locket complete with a photo inside! You can tell it is well-worn and well-loved. A nod to their Blue Band roots :) You guys!! Back to the place where she first said, “Yes”… A little romp around the field in the last light of day!
Can’t wait for next June to see these two again!
