For some folks, Friday the 13th is a day to stay inside, clutching their rabbit’s foot and lucky penny, hoping that no farm befalls them on the unluckiest day on the calendar. For others, it’s a day for celebration—not at all because of superstition, but because of the memories of the most joyous times, that just happened to fall on the so-called “unlucky” day. The latter was truth for Kait and Travis’s beautiful bayside wedding in Annapolis this past Friday, and not just because of the absolutely perfect weather or the display of all of Kait’s pre-wedding planning and hard work. Of course friends and family gathered to celebrate Kait and Travis’s marriage on this day that most brides would avoid, but just know Friday the 13th as Kait and Travis’s new anniversary doesn’t give you the full story. That’s because sixty years ago, on the exact same day, Kait’s grandparents Ralph and Dominique also said “I Do,” marking the beginning of sixty long and joyful years of marriage, family and love. And though Grandpa Ralph and Grandma Donnie weren’t there to see their granddaughter marry the man she loves, theres no doubt that, for the next sixty years and beyond, they will be celebrating that love in the hearts of their grandchildren.
I was so incredibly honored to be a part of such a beautiful, meaningful day for two amazing people. Kait is truly one of the most thoughtful and incredibly kind people I know, and Travis couldn’t be a better fit as Kait’s other half—caring, sweet and willing to do anything for his bride. The weather, the details, the dress and the flowers were all a part of this amazing day, but it was the genuine love that radiated from Kait and Travis all night that made the day one to remember.
