Mallory grew up surrounded by all things Army. She loved the Army family that she grew up in, but wasn’t always sure that the West Point path was the one for her. She’d applied to other state schools, but when senior year of high school rolled around and it came time to decide on a college, nowhere else felt quite like home. Richard grew up surrounded by all things football. He loved the game and knew for certain that after high school, he wanted the chance to play at the next level. When he was recruited by West Point, he never thought his love for the game would so quickly transform into a love for his country. He also never thought the cute red headed girl who came from a long line of Army leadership would win his heart so quickly. But after being introduced by an old family friend of Mallory’s, he realized that no one else felt quite like home.
As soon as Mallory and Richard turned the corner into Union Station’s main hall, I knew it was going to be an incredible afternoon. These two literally beam when they’re near each other. (Ok, so maybe that glow had something to do with the fresh Dominican Republic tans they’d gotten on their spring break trip the week before, but I’m sticking to the love explanation.) While their relationship obviously has firm roots planted in West Point, the District offered plenty of locations that were perfectly suited for a couple who loves their country as much and they love each other. We started up on the Hill at Union Station before heading down to the Mall and Tidal Basin to soak in the last few drops of golden spring light. The whole shoot was filled with just as much gorgeous light as it was ridiculous laughter, much of which may or may not have been inspired by a few seductive “Russian-On-The-Beach” poses that Mallory and Richard brought back with them from their D.R. trip :) I loved wandering the city with these two and just can’t wait for their wedding this July! In the meantime, I think their bright, spring engagement session will just have to hold me over…
Mallory and Richard share a love of travel, so where better to start than Union Station?
Oh, on the right. Y’alls laughter melts my heart!
So much sweetness.
That dress, that necklace, the shirt, THAT RING!! Man oh, man you two looked good!
A little Russian-On-The-Beach action on the right… definitely folding that one into my go-to poses!
Y’all make the Lincoln Memorial look GOOD.
A little Army/West Point love…
I can’t wait for July!!
