It didn’t take Dave long to recognize the way he felt about the tall, curly-haired girl in the class above him. They were both involved in Navigators, a Christian ministry at Penn State. The incredible joy, huge heart and beautiful smile of Megan captured his attention and just never let him go. Megan thought the boy in the class below her was pretty cute. His sense of humor and sweet heart had her wondering if maybe there was something there. But it took Megan a little longer to come around.
Sometimes you just need a short trip to Spain to make everything a little clearer, and in the summer before her senior year at Penn State, Megan had the opportunity to study abroad. She and Dave had been becoming closer and closer throughout the previous school year, but as her departure date neared, Megan didn’t see her relationship with Dave as more than friends. Together, they decided that it’d be best to spend the summer without talking face-to-face—letters (and mayybe a few video messages) only. Megan spent a once-in-a-lifetime summer adventuring in Europe, seeing sights that most people only get to read about in books. But upon her return home, there was one person in particular with whom she wanted to share her stories . One person whose summer she wanted to hear all about. One person who she found herself missing most of all. And that’s when she knew this was so much more than friendship.
I got to meet Megan and Dave outside of State College, Pennsylvania this past weekend for their incredibly gorgeous engagement session! After a scheduling error on my part, we were able to work out a time for this past Saturday, and I’m secretly a little glad it happened this way! Despite being a little chilly (Spring is still making its way north!), the light all afternoon was just to die for. And die I did as we made our way from Whipple’s Dam to Harvest Fields, overlooking the iconic Mount Nittany. These places weren’t just pretty locations to take nice pictures, they were some of the first places where Megan and Dave went on dates together. They’re the places that hold the heart of their relationship’s foundations. And call me crazy, but I think just a little bit of extra love is in every single one of these photos because of it.
It was SO hard to choose my favorites for this post! Megan and Dave, you two are serious professionals! I cannot WAIT for your June wedding—you two will make the most stunning bride and groom!
This is the first five minutes, y’all! You two are just adorable.
Megan!!! Girl. You are gorgeous.
That joy of Megan’s that I mentioned? Here’s some proof.
Could have honestly photographed Megan’s ring all afternoon. Talk about some sparkle…
And then we headed to Harvest Fields for some gorgeous views of Happy Valley…
And then I died… I DIED.
It got a little chilly so we broke out the blankets…
Honestly, you two make my heart melt.
And to end the evening, we took it back to where it all started… sitting by the fire watching the stars.
