Oh, you guys… I’ve been waiting for this post for months. MONTHS!
After I first met Nicole and Kevin waaay back in December of last year, I have been so excited for the chance to work alongside them as they plan what is going to be an incredible affair this September. With their fall wedding, Nicole and Kevin knew that they’d like to have their engagement photos taken in spring, and since they met, live and work in DC, what better way to document their engagement than with a background full of cherry blossoms?!
Since I’m not a crazy person, I suggested that we plan their tidal basin shoot as a sunrise session to ensure that their photos didn’t include 10,000 touristy strangers in the background. When we discovered that the annual Cherry Blossom race was scheduled for the same morning, we made a quick location change to a neighborhood in Bethesda, MD known for being a cherry blossom wonderland. Score! Or, not so much. A quick trip to scout out the neighborhood the day before our shoot proved that not one of the trees had begun to bloom. And so, it was onto Plan C.
Even the best laid plans, amiright?
Fortunately, Nicole and Kevin were so willing to be flexible, and I really think the change worked out for the best! These two lovebirds first met while studying Library and Information Science at Catholic University, and now they both work at the Library of Congress! So, it was really only fitting that we had their session outside and around the gorgeous architecture of the Library itself. And while it felt a little mean to ask N+K to meet me at their “office” bright and early on a Sunday morning, it was so. completely. worth it. The Library might be one of my new favorite places to shoot!
So, on this dreary Tuesday, enjoy the bright, sunny love of Nicole and Kevin! I can’t wait for September!
Oh, morning light… Let’s be BFF’s forever.
This much adorability at 7 AM. Yes!
Oh, Nicole, go right on ahead with that fierceness.
HOLY. SMOKES. Y’ALL. Also, can we chat about this ring for a minute? I’ll tell you what, Steph Dee Grooms have been on their ring game this year!
And we still got our cherry blossoms :)
