Each of my weddings holds a special place in my heart, but this one? This one may just take the penthouse suite of my cardiac organ.
I met Amanda during my sophomore year at Penn State. We became fast friends, bonding over our love for Penn State football, Jesus, and giant cookies from McLanahan’s. Between the late-night marathons of Glee and hours spent preparing for our Bible study together, it wasn’t unusual for the topic to turn to future plans, hopes, dreams, boys… I know how long Amanda has been praying for the man who would be her husband, and when I got the chance to meet Jon for the first time just a few weeks ago, it was so clear that God had led her to her perfect match.
Their wedding day was beautiful, heartfelt, genuine, God-focused and FUN: a true reflection of who Amanda and Jon are. Even when rain forced their ceremony inside, these two didn’t let a few clouds distract them from the fact that it was their WEDDING day, and whether they were married inside or out, whether rain came or not, at the end of the day, they would get to call each other husband and wife. It was my absolute joy to not only get to celebrate with my friends, but to capture their day as well. Enjoy a few highlights from the day!
Introducing: Mr. and Mrs. Ruch (!)
Amanda got ready at her parent’s home surrounded by all of the familiarity of her childhood. I loved this photo displayed in her parent’s room!
And how incredible is it to have all of your closest friends sitting around your kitchen table getting ready on your wedding day?!
The earrings Amanda wore were her mother’s, and the Bible that carried the rings down the aisle was her grandmother’s. I love how much these important relics were incorporated into the day!
Amanda. Your dress. I’m still swooning.
I LOVE non-traditional bridesmaids dresses! The mixed palette of cream and peach looked SO great together.
The brooch and pearls wrapped around Amanda’s bouquet were also her grandmother’s.
Twin expressions while reading their notes. You two are adorable.
First look with her dad :)
Gorgeous, ladies! I love this!
Okay Amanda!! Most stunning bride ever!!
Not a shabby group of groomsmen!
Amanda and Jon decided not to have a first look, but still wanted the chance to pray together before the ceremony. Solution!
Jon was so anxious to see his bride! It was the sweetest.
Love. love. love.
So. Much. JOY!
You two are way too good looking.
Absolutely beautiful, Amanda!
The bridal party had some pretty excellent entrances…
…Including a bridesmaid leapfrog ;)
Heart-felt speeches and heart-felt reactions.
Though the rain moved their ceremony indoors, we were still able to sneak out of the reception for a few minutes to take some shots in Brandywine Manor House’s beautiful glen!
On the left is such a favorite!!
Ring pose reprise :) (Don’t worry, it’s the ring finger!)
Amanda’s dad promised that his kids would see his moves on the dance floor and he delivered!
