Most high school sweethearts spend four of the most formative years of their lives wandering the same hallways and learning in classrooms that share walls, never too far away from one another. Not for Ashley and Brendan. They had spent their high school years wandering different hallways and learning in classrooms that didn’t even share a building, let alone walls. But college finally brought these sweethearts under the same academic roof when their educational paths led them both to Towson University. And this past spring, with four more years of classes, life and love under their belts, Brendan knew that his high school-turned-college sweetheart was the real deal—a life-long love affair. So he got down on one knee and with ring in hand, made it all as official as the seals on their diplomas.
I was so thrilled to meet Ashley and Brendan this past weekend in the beautiful Bishop’s Garden at Washington D.C.’s National Cathedral. We spent the evening exploring the gorgeous grounds, excitedly discussing their wedding plans for next June, and gushing over their incredibly adorable pup, Apollo! These two rescued their cute dog-child (who also goes by affectionate names like Moo and Stinky ;) together two years ago, and—as always—I loved getting to include him in their shoot! Bonus, I may even have a new favorite ring shot thanks to how well-behaved and talented that pup is!
Enjoy a few of my favorites from the gorgeous evening, and don’t forget to leave Ashley, Brendan and Apollo some love in the comments below!
The architecture around the Bishop’s Garden made us feel like we were transported into some kind of fairytale garden. All those doors!
Seriously, these two are just the sweetest!
Loving this! Ashley, you are a stunner.
Adore this one! Brendan, you’ve got that look down to an art, sir.
Way too much pretty.
Ashley is a girl after my own heart—wear shoes as little as possible! She’ll also be barefoot on her wedding day, so why not do the same for her engagement session?
Apollo is one talented guy! I love that we got this shot!
Say it with me… awwww!
Can’t even get enough of you two!
Are these stairs fairytale material, or what?
