“Consider the fact that for 3.8 billion years, a period of time older than the Earth’s mountains and rivers and oceans, every one of your forebears on both sides has been attractive enough to find a mate, healthy enough to reproduce, and sufficiently blessed by fate and circumstances to live long enough to do so. Not one of your pertinent ancestors was squashed, devoured, drowned, starved, stranded, stuck fast, untimely wounded, or otherwise deflected from its life’s quest of delivering a tiny charge of genetic material to the right partner at the right moment in order to perpetuate the only possible sequence of hereditary combinations that could result — eventually, astoundingly, and all too briefly — in you.”
Kevin read these words from Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything to Nicole in front of all of their most cherished family and friends. Nearly everyone in the room had a knowing smile and the joy-filled heart that can only come from seeing two people who are just so good for each other wrap themselves together in love and promises, but no one beamed more than Nicole. Nicole and Kevin, with a love all their own, planned one of the most stunning affairs I’ve had the privilege to be apart of at Alexandria’s Carlyle Club last weekend, and every single detail—from the art deco vibe throughout the reception at the Club to the readings of Bryson and Vonnegut during the ceremony to the incredibly beautiful and intricate Ketubah, or traditional Jewish wedding contract, that had been handmade for them in Israel—was so true to these two as a couple. I was more honored than I can say to get to witness two so genuinely wonderful and loving people start their adventure as husband and wife and I am so excited to share moments from their day with you!
Introducing: Mr and Mrs Marcou
I was pretty in love with the monochromatic palette of Nicole’s bouquet! Made me so happy for fall!
