For most, a backyard wedding means a big white tent that hovers over the yard that the bride once played in as a little girl, or catering from the BBQ place down the street that the groom has been frequenting since he was five. Mallory and Sean planned their wedding as close to their own backyard as possible, but their incredible rooftop soiree with views of the U.S. Capitol and the National Mall had a slightly different vibe than your typical backyard celebration.
Mallory and Sean are two proud Washingtonians who absolutely adore each other, their city, and their sweet dog, Boss. Though Mallory originally hails from New Jersey and Sean has roots planted in Kentucky, four years at Catholic University brought them both to the city they now call home. Their story is woven in through the streets, moments and buildings of the town: the pub where they first met, the dates that took place in all four of the city’s quadrants, their first home together, the spot in front of the Capitol that Sean gave Mallory the surprise of a lifetime and asked her to be his wife… How could they celebrate their love anywhere but there? And now Washington holds even more meaning for these two, as they promised forever and shared their love celebrating with friends and family in one of the most breathtaking spots in the city.
Introducing: Mr. and Mrs. Joiner
Oy! This ring!!
When they got engaged, Mallory’s mom gifted her a beautiful heart bracelet from Tiffany’s. Mallory passed along the sentiment by gifting Tiffany’s arrow bracelets to each of her bridesmaids! The best kind of friendship bracelet!
Though Boss, Mallory and Sean’s adorable pup couldn’t physically be at the celebration, he was their in spirit! And in cookies!
These sparkly Badgley Mischkas!!
Such a stunning bride!
St. Peter’s Church on Capitol Hill was the perfect, light-filled church to exchange vows.
Love this joy!!
We took the guys’ portraits in front of a house that Sean helped to create: made of shipping containers!!
And then off to Union Station, just around the corner for M+S’s home.
So beautiful, you two!
And then up to the rooftop! How about this view?
Not only was the view incredible, but the guests were treated to one of the most magnificent sunsets.
First dance in front of the Captiol? Why not!?
You can never go wrong with a Georgetown Cupcake tower.
This is just too precious!
Congratulations, Mallory and Sean!!
