“Where Charm City meets Motor City.”
It was the motto of Jess and Mike’s day, the day that the boy who grew up surrounded by all things Orioles and Ravens would marry the girl who was raised with Lions, Tigers, Motown and plenty and plenty of cars. Moves to Northern Virginia brought the unlikely pair together, and they never looked back. Wait, I take that back. Jess and Mike are the very opposite of an unlikely pair. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find two people who fit together so wonderfully and who complement each other in all of the best ways. Though I’d only met J+M two or three times before their wedding day, as I drove up to the beautiful Riverside on the Potomac in Leesburg, I knew that I wasn’t just arriving to the day as a photographer, but as a welcomed friend.
Every part of the wedding day matched Jess and Mike’s cheerful, loving demeanor. From the golden light to the beautiful handmade reception details, from the creative peacock feather bouquets to the incredible horse-drawn carriage, everything was planned to a T! I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that the new Mrs. Bettick has a knack for planning some incredible surprises. Not only did she gift Mike a pair of Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles cufflinks (his favorite!), she also surprised him during the reception with a matching Ninja Turtles garter! Perfection! But it definitely didn’t stop there. Mike is a self-proclaimed diehard Orioles fan, and I think his heart may have stopped half way through the reception when the Oriole Bird walked through the door! He had absolutely no idea, and the joy on both his and Jess’ face as the mascot entered almost rivaled their excitement as Jess walked down the aisle earlier that day :)
You all are going to fall head over heels in love with this couple and their wedding day. From the peacock feathers to the carriage to the way their sweetness shines through even in photos, you can’t help but feel a part of all the fun. Jess and Mike, thank you thank you thank you for really and truly welcoming me into your lives over these past few months. It’s been entirely too much fun to get to know you two, and an absolute joy to be able to witness and document the start of your lifelong journey!
Introducing: Mr. and Mrs. Bettick
Peacock feather + those rings = YES PLEASE!
Such a perfect way to incorporate the peacock into the bouquet!
Proof of Mike’s love for TMNT :)
The bride making her perfectly grand entrance.
So married and so excited!
The light for bridal party portraits was diving. You girls look so gorgeous!
Not to mention the good-looking guys!
Always a good day when the groom is power lifted…
…and when there are beers to be shotgunned ;)
And then the real magic happened, and I probably said “Are you kidding!?!” 100 plus times…
Jess grew up loving and riding horses, and I adore that we got to incorporate some of that love into hers and Mike’s photos!
You to make this look SO easy.
Such a darn favorite.
Work it! Love the look on the left!
Fast forward a few decades in technology, and we’ve got ourselves the perfect vintage car!
Just a few more decades of advancement ;) Jess and her dad look pretty legit parked together!
How cute is this cork board? J+M saved corks from wine shared during their relationship, wrote the occasion on the cork, and created this incredible keepsake.
Best entrance hats ever? ;)
After the cake cutting, Jess has a little surprise planned for Mike…
And when he saw who it was, he was SO PUMPED…
Because it was his favorite mascot, the Orioles Bird!
The bird knows how to party ;)
