The bridal suite was filled to the brim: with dresses, with bobby pins and makeup, with shoes, with laughter, with happy tears. With butterflies.
Christy looked at herself in the mirror, looking every inch a Disney princess in her beautiful tulle ball gown (Seriously, just wait until you see how this beautiful dress TWIRLS. You’ll swear there are magical birds flying just outside the frame making the gown dance just so.), cursing the unfriendly butterflies floating around her stomach. In just a few minutes she’d be walking down the aisle to the love of her life—the one who makes her laugh, who draws her closer to her God, the one who had time and time again, even after a year of a long-distance engagement, fought for her and her love—and the butterflies had taken up residence and were refusing to leave, reminding her of the days when she and Josiah first began to get to know each other, and the butterflies were as normal a part of her life as blinking and breathing. And so under a warm May sun, with all of their closest friends and family surrounding them, Christy and Josiah pledged to each other a lifetime of love, through the hard and the easy moments, through the good and the bad, they promised each other a lifetime of butterflies.
After the sun set down over the Blue Ridge mountains, we snuck out with the newlyweds and their bridal party to make some magic happen. Christy L-O-V-E-S white Christmas lights, and wanted to incorporate the magical vibe that they hold into every corner of their wedding—including their photos, thankfully for me! A few minutes and a few dozen sparklers later, and I was laying on the ground, in the dark, in front of my camera, very unprofessionally geeking out about the images that we’d created together. What a special, beautiful way to end such an incredible, magical day. Christy and Josiah, thanks for inviting me into you world, for trusting me to capture this moment and these memories for you. I hope you’ll love reliving it all over again with a few of my favorites!
