Of course, Jenny looked exquisite in a gown that was just perfect for her. And yes, Ricky and his groomsmen were entirely dapper the entire day. And certainly, the details wear beautiful—from the deep purple florals to the lovely necklaces the bridesmaids wore, all the way to the classy wine-themed details that accented TPC’s Potomac’s clubhouse so well. But between all of the beautiful details and the big moments of putting on dream gowns and sliding on shiny new rings, what stuck out to me most about J+R’s wedding were the small moments.
All throughout Jenny and Ricky’s day were little bits of raw, real emotion. Not necessarily anything over the top or, “Look at me!!” but the kind of feels that are quiet. The ones that you might miss if you’re not looking for them. Like the trickle of tears Jenny wiped from her eyes just after her father saw her first the first time on her wedding day, or the sweetest little looks that Ricky had for Jenny during toasts at their reception, like he was realizing 5,684th moment that day how lucky he was to have married the girl of his dreams. It’s these moments that make every single wedding day so unlike any other, and it’s the fact that sweet humans like Jenny and Ricky trust me to photograph those small moments that make me feel like the luckiest photographer in the world.
