They got out of the car and Cam stopped to tie his shoe before starting on the hike Lisa had planned for them. Lisa sprinted over to him, giddily pretending like he was about to propose, like she did every time Cam bent down for something. Cam glared up at Lisa, like he did every time he bent down for something. Lisa laughed and started on the hike, taking in the scenery completely oblivious to the fact that Cam had an incredibly beautiful engagement ring waiting in his backpack, and he was finally ready to put it to use.
The shoe-tying pretend-excitement happened two more times. You see, after six years of dating, Lisa was used to joking around about how long she and Cam had been together. She knew beyond a doubt that she would spend the rest of her life with Cam, and she also knew that Cam liked to take his time when it came to big life decisions, and so she contented herself during the wait by driving Cam crazy with her feigned excitement as much as she could. But in the middle of their hike, after snapping a photo of their beautiful surroundings, she turned around to see Cam holding out a small box containing something shiny that looked suspiciously similar to an engagement ring. After a moment of confusion, disbelief, and finally REAL giddiness, Lisa slid the ring on. It fit. And just like that, she no longer had a boyfriend, but a fiancé!
After getting to spend an evening exploring their home of Chicago with Lisa and Cam this past July, I knew exactly how perfectly this engagement tale fit them and I was beyond excited to see how they incorporated their unique style into their Middleburg wedding day. Let me tell you, these two did not disappoint! From Lisa’s orange Chucks to Cameron’s “The Best” belt buckle, from the brews that they hand selected for their guests to the fact that they had a FOOD TRUCK cater their reception (!!) this wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect for them. Lisa, Cam, I was so honored to get the chance to play a role in such a spectacularly fun and meaningful day. Watching two souls who fit together like puzzle pieces say yes to forever is the biggest joy of my job, and that’s exactly what this day was with you two. Enjoy this first look back on that glorious day!
