I’m still not sure that this entire day wasn’t completely a dream.
First, there’s the location: a wedding on Saint Simon’s Island, Georgia. It’s the place where Laura’s mother grew up and where Laura spent her summers as a child and now where Laura’s parents call home. I’m not sure if it’s possible to stand anywhere on the island without being able to see at least two live oak trees covered in the magical substance that is Spanish moss. The weather gods saw it fit to make the day full of sunshine without a cloud in the sky, and that golden light filtered through the trees like sweet southern honey.
But that glorious light was most definitely not the sweetest thing on the island that day. That honor went, of course, to the loveliest bride and groom in all of Georgia. I simply don’t have enough words to express how much I adore these two. Together, they are everything a great love story should be—best friends, partners, soul mates. I swear that Laura fills every room that she walks into with actual, tangible, joy. And then there’s Cole, one of the kindest and most genuine souls a person could ever hope to meet. And together? Well, together you can only imagine the kind of good vibes that Laura and Cole carry with them through life. And those good, glorious, love-soaked vibes were in no short supply as they promised their lives to each other under a canopy of live oak trees and then celebrated the night away on the beach at the beautiful King and Prince Resort. I certainly pinched myself a few times that day when it all seemed a little too good to be true but here’s the thing: Laura and Cole are the real deal, and a day any less beautiful just wouldn’t have been worthy of them!
Laura and Cole, it has been such an absolute joy to get to photograph this part of your love story. I can’t thank you and your families enough for being such wonderful souls, for letting me into your lives and for treating me like an old friend. Here’s hoping in a few years we’ll be real old friends ;) Congratulations, you lovebirds!
