It was only her first weekend attending church there, but one time was all it took. After the service, while she was unassumingly meeting and greeting new people and making new friends after her cross-country move from Seattle, David took notice and decided he immediately needed to know who this girl was. After sauntering over and injecting himself into the conversation with a sweetness and moxie that is David’s signature, he began to learn a little bit about Nancy from Seattle. Wasting no time, he knew that he wanted to get to know her better and that seeing each other sporadically on Sunday mornings just wouldn’t do. And so David left that Sunday with Nancy’s email address. And a good thing it was, because just a year later, that cute Nancy from Seattle was the girl standing in front of him saying “YES!” as he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together.
When I first met David and Nancy, I was so struck by how well they fit together—like two puzzle pieces cut from the same board. They share the same incredibly sweet demeanor and are both outrageously intelligent. You’ll be sure within the first five minutes of meeting them that you’ve never met a kinder pair. But where Nancy tends to be more on the quiet side, drawing you into conversation with warm smiles and the sweetest laugh, David’s bright gusto brings the conversation right to you, with meaningful questions and a witty remark always at the ready. They work so well together and it is some kind of wonderful to get to see them in this crazy exciting engagement season.
Though that season won’t last for too long—Nancy and David are planning their wedding coming up in February and I am over-the-moon thrilled that I won’t have to wait too long to get to see these two again! For their session, we decided that one of their favorite spots in the DMV, Great Falls Park, would be the perfect location. Enjoy a few of my favorites from their winter engagement session and get excited to see them again soon!
